I figured that this year would probably be the last year Van would let me chose his Halloween costume. So I thought I'd go for something I always wanted when I was little: an Ewok. I don't care for Star Wars too much, but I remember LOVING those cute little Ewoks. And since October is my birthday month, I have an attitude of entitlement all month anyway. After all of these years of waiting, here is my little Ewok!

I was Princess Leia and Matt was Hans Solo. We actually looked really awesome, but you'll just have to take my word for it since this isn't a full length shot. Sad for you.

Then there was trick or treating. Since it was freezing that day, we only went down our street, but it only took one house for Van to get the gist. He'd knock on the door and say, 'Chip or chip' and they'd give him candy. I'm not sure why it was chip or chip, but I like to let him be creative.
Here's Van right before he went chip or chipping. Of course I couldn't get a picture of him holding still, so this is about as good as it gets. Our little Ewok, headed out on his big adventure!

A few days before Halloween, we went to Black Island Farms with my sister. It was cold, but I can see why so many people like this place! We got to go on a hay ride, pulled by a tractor and he dropped us off in the middle of a field to pick our pumpkins. Since I love gory Halloween stuff, I kept thinking how they could totally freak people out by acting like they are just doing an innocent pumpkin picking expedition, but it turns into a pumpkin terror ride and the tractor just ditches people out there and all of the freaky kids from Children of the Corn start to emerge from the farm. Anyway, that didn't happen and Van picked his own pumpkin.
So Van and Jude had a good (freezing) time picking their pumpkins. This is definitely a place we'll go back to, during the day time next year.
Brooke and Jude all bundled up, loving the tractor ride!
The other big event this month was me turning 30. Not sure I can really talk about it yet, but my mom, bless her heart, threw a surprise party for me. It was exactly how I wanted to ring in the new decade!

Such a cute Ewok. Gage was Darth Vader and I was gonna have Krew be a little Yoda. But I saw the $25 tag for Yoda, and bought him the $5 shirt from Children's place instead. I'm sooo cheap!!
And your birthday was stupendous! I hope your 30th is everything you've ever hoped it could be!
